If you wish to travel to Cuba from the United States (even in the case of simple transit in the United States) you will be asked for a pink tourist card.

The pink tourist card must be requested from your airline. Once obtained, you have 180 days to travel to Cuban territory.
Upon arrival on the island, your tourist card will be valid for 90 days.

If you wish to extend your stay, you are authorized to extend your tourist card for an additional 90 days.

Traveling from a non-US airport to Cuba? So the green tourist card is the document that will correspond to your trip. Complete this form without further delay to obtain your green tourist card.

Your tourist card therefore depends on your departure airport and in case of transit through the United States. If you do not have the correct tourist card, the Cuban authorities will refuse your entry.
