The tourist card is a card which serves as visas for nationals of certain nationalities. It allows you to stay in Cuba for a short period of time. However, when the deadline passes, you must replace or extend it. Find out how to extend your Cuba tourist card.

Getting to a tourist office in Cuba

The Cuba tourist card allows you to stay up to 90 days in Cuba. If you need more time to visit Cuba or do activities, there are several options available to you to extend your time.

This is essentially the possibility of going to a tourist office to perform this task. The extension cannot exceed 90 additional days.

To establish the extension in a tourist office, you must have the supporting documents requested by the Cuban administration. These include your passport, round-trip plane ticket, proof of your health insurance and establishment fees.

The passport must be valid and must expire 6 months after your stay. The return ticket is mandatory for the request for an extension of stay. You must present your health insurance which must cover the entire duration of the stay.

Finally you will pay 25 pesos or 23 € for processing fees.

The deadlines for receiving the tourist card are quite short. Generally, within one day or within a maximum of 48 hours, it will be delivered to you personally at the tourist office.

Extend your tourist card at a travel agency

From an international point of view, Cuba is a destination coveted by many foreign tourists. Some tourists want to spend more time there. Travel agencies have understood that it is necessary to adapt to different tourist demands. So, you can apply for your Cuba tourist card extension at travel agencies.

You must provide the agency with your passport and plane ticket, especially the return ticket, and health insurance. A description of the documents has been provided above. Pay attention to the duration of the insurance chosen, this should allow you to stay longer. You will be able to receive feedback from the travel agency within 48 hours.

Go to Cuba Immigration

Cuban immigration and consulates available on site can allow you to extend your stay in Cuba. This is the centralized place where tourist card extension acts are validated. It is possible that the request will take longer, as this is not the primary function of these institutions.

Visit some approved websites

Public online services also allow you to apply for a tourist card extension. Make sure that the tourist offices or online travel agencies are approved by the Cuban State to grant the extension request.

Once on the website of one of these providers, you must complete the online request form. Insert the documents by downloading them and pay the application fees.

The delivery time is not long enough. Once you have acquired the Cuba tourist card, check that your first and last name and passport number match.

You will finally be able to benefit from the advantages of your card and enjoy your stay in complete peace of mind. If you want to extend the card period further, this is no longer possible, because the extension request is issued only once.
